Cybernetics and Redefining Intelligence
Beyond Knowledge to Freedom

For most of my life, I equated intelligence with achievement. Good grades, a solid career, mastering new skills—these were the markers of success I grew up with. And for a long time, I followed that blueprint. I’ve built a career in finance, navigating complex renewable energy projects, and secured the kind of stability that many would aspire to.
Yet here I am, in my early 30s, standing at a crossroads. While my current path has provided security, I feel the pull toward something entirely different. Intelligence, as I now see it, is not just about knowledge or status. It’s about the courage to realign your life with your values, even when you’re not yet ready to let go of the familiar.
Intelligence as Transition: The Struggle Between Stability and Freedom
Every day, I feel the tension between two worlds. On one hand, my job offers financial stability and structure—a safety net I’ve relied on for years. On the other, there’s a vision I can’t ignore: a life rooted in creativity, freedom, and authenticity. I want to dedicate myself to projects in AI, cryptocurrency, and writing. But stepping fully into that world feels risky, like jumping without knowing if there’s a net to catch me.
This internal struggle defines my current phase. I’m not yet free from the old patterns, but I’m actively questioning them. Intelligence, I’ve realized, isn’t a binary state of knowing or not knowing; it’s the ability to hold space for uncertainty and growth at the same time.
What’s helped me navigate this in-between phase is reframing my goals as iterative rather than final. The concept of cybernetics—setting goals, adjusting them, and learning from the process—has been a guiding light. Instead of forcing a dramatic leap, I’m taking smaller, deliberate steps toward my vision.
For example, I’ve been exploring AI tools and cryptocurrency not just as hobbies but as pathways to independence. Writing about these experiences has become both a creative outlet and a way to process my journey. It’s in these small, intentional actions that I’m building a bridge from my current reality to the life I want.
The Role of Fear and Authenticity
Fear has been my constant companion during this process. There’s fear of failure, of financial instability, of disappointing others—or even myself. But I’ve come to understand that fear is not a sign to stop; it’s a sign to pay attention. What am I afraid of losing? What might I gain if I take the leap?
Authenticity is the antidote to that fear. The more I align my actions with my true self, the less I feel trapped by external expectations. For me, intelligence is about having the courage to question the structures that no longer serve me and to begin shaping a life that does.
Intelligence as a Process, Not a Destination
I’m still very much in transition, and that’s okay. Intelligence, as I now define it, is not a final destination but an ongoing process of reflection, adjustment, and growth. It’s about learning to navigate life’s complexities with curiosity and resilience.
Right now, I’m focusing on building the skills and confidence I’ll need for the next chapter. Whether it’s diving deeper into AI tools, writing about my experiences, or finding ways to integrate my passions with my expertise, every step brings me closer to the life I envision.
Closing Thoughts: Redefining Success on My Terms
This phase of my life is not just about redefining intelligence; it’s about redefining success. Success, for me, is no longer about external validation but about creating a life that feels aligned with who I am. It’s about learning to let go of what no longer fits while honoring the journey that brought me here.
If you’re also standing at a crossroads, know that it’s okay to not have it all figured out. Intelligence is not about knowing every answer; it’s about asking the right questions and trusting yourself to find your way.

Saudi Arabia just discovered the 2nd largest lithium reserves (white gold) within its oil fields near the coast. A game changer for this nation to hedge a decline in oil price.
I’ll be watching lithium markets from this news.

What I learned today:
The Subtle Dance Between “Affect” and “Effect”
Today, I found myself reflecting on two words that seem simple but carry profound implications: affect and effect. At first glance, they might appear interchangeable, but understanding their nuances reveals how we perceive and react to the world around us.
Here’s the gist:
Affect is about influence. It’s the external stimulus—the music that lifts your mood or the warm smile that sparks joy.
Effect is the result. It’s what happens next—the calm that follows a peaceful walk or the motivation that comes after an inspiring conversation.
The distinction goes beyond linguistics. It’s deeply woven into how we navigate life. For example, in psychology, “affect” often describes our emotional responses or expressions. Meanwhile, “effect” is the measurable outcome, like the impact of therapy on someone’s well-being.
Even philosophy adds another layer to this. Kant talked about how our senses are affected by the world around us, shaping the effect of how we interpret reality.
Why does this matter? For me, it’s a reminder that life is a constant interplay between what influences us and how we respond. Something as simple as a favorite song can shift your emotional state (affect), creating a ripple of productivity or relaxation (effect).
The beauty lies in pausing to notice these dynamics. It’s about being mindful of what shapes us and how it transforms our actions, moods, and even perspectives.
So, what influenced you today? And what ripple did it leave behind? For me, just unpacking this distinction left me more aware of how the small things can make a big impact.
That’s it for today! ☺️
