What I read today:

Here are my notes on it:

Charlie Munger's first rule of happiness is: Have low expectations. This rule is based on the idea that unrealistic expectations can lead to constant dissatisfaction and misery. Munger suggests cultivating reasonable expectations based on a realistic assessment of what is achievable and within our control.

Here are some key insights, tips, and lessons that emerge from Munger's perspective on happiness:

Low expectations: By reducing our expectations to a reasonable level, we create a healthier mental space in which to enjoy small successes. This doesn't mean settling for mediocrity, but taking a realistic perspective and appreciating the value of what we have.

Pragmatic approach to life: A realistic set of expectations enables a pragmatic approach to life. When we set attainable goals, the likelihood of achieving them increases, leading to a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction.

Stoicism: Stoicism emphasizes developing inner strength and resilience by accepting life's outcomes with grace and serenity. By acknowledging that we cannot control external circumstances, but do have control over our response to them, we can find peace and resilience.

Acceptance and Adaptability: A grounded perspective allows us to better cope with life's challenges and accept life's impermanence. By accepting and adapting to life's fluctuations, we can live happier and more fulfilling lives.

Appreciating the present moment: accepting the impermanence of life allows us to enjoy the beauty of each moment and appreciate the richness of life in its entirety. Happiness grows in direct proportion to acceptance and in inverse proportion to expectations.

The insights of Charlie Munger and stoicism offer a profound perspective on happiness and invite us to adopt an attitude based on realistic expectations, acceptance, and adaptability. By integrating these principles into our lives, we can lead more fulfilling and satisfying lives.

Here are my notes on it:

  • Ask your own questions and challenge information.

  • Do not rely exclusively on expert opinions.

  • Manipulation by experts is possible, and lay people can have relevant insights as well.

  • Be critical of changing definitions to support certain narratives.

  • Question authority and media and develop a healthy distrust.

  • Use personal judgment and common sense to evaluate complex issues.

What I saw today:

The report highlights the increasing adoption of crypto, blockchain, and web3 technologies by major corporations, their potential use cases, and the importance of regulatory clarity and skilled talent in driving further investment and innovation in this space.

Watching this was quite a trip…

“Over a year and a half in the making and featuring a cast of surfing’s most capable and compelling characters, anticipation is peaking for the release of Volcom Stone’s latest feature surf film, Psychic Migrations. Following 2014’s True To This, a surf-skate-snow epic, the forthcoming Psychic Migrations is yet another inspired Veeco Production that builds on more than 20 years and 30 influential films from the world of Volcom. Directed by veteran surf filmmaker Ryan Thomas and shot on location in the West Indies, East Indies, Australia, Polynesia, and the Americas, the film weaves the physical expression of riding a rousing score of waves with a cerebral odyssey through the scapes and textures travelled to find them.”

What I listened to today:

This one would be for German readers only, but definitely a huge recommendation!

What I liked today:

Random Thoughts:

Physical presence alone is not enough. It is equally important to be mentally and emotionally available. True connection comes when we consciously engage in the moment and focus our thoughts. By opening ourselves emotionally as well, we can develop compassion and genuine relationships. Self-care means prioritizing mental and emotional recovery

That’s it for today! ☺️
